Alaska Trip Maps

We stayed at 75 different campgrounds on this trip. They are all located and numbered by day here on these maps.

Entire Trip Map
There are 3 routes created with the DeLorme Street
Atlas program combined here on this map.
  1. The northern route is the path we took going
    to Alaska
  2. There is a route that we took around the inside
    of Alaska
  3. The southern route is the path we took coming
back home from Alaska thru the northwest
The total round trip is about 14,000 miles depending
on how many U-turns due to
"Oh crap! We should have turned back there."
We won't talk about that.

Week 3 - starting from Fish Creek Campground in Glacier National Park, MT, heading east around the southern border of the park and then north across the U.S. border and into Alberta, Canada. We continued driving north into Alberta all the way up to Banff where we settled into Tunnel Mountain Campground in Banff Provincial Park at the end of the week. A beautiful drive indeed.

It is interesting to note that in week 3 we drove pretty much northwest in Alberta, Canada, for about 400 miles right along the border with British Columbia which was less than 40 miles to the west. If you are driving to Alaska just to see the beautiful mountains, save yourself a lot of driving and simply cruise this 400 mile stretch of highway for the most spectacular scenery we encountered on our long journey. It's all here: Mountains and valleys, rivers, lakes and waterfalls, wildlife, the Columbia Icefield and lots of major tourist towns such as Waterton, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper all along Canada 1 and Hwy 93.

March 2019 Note: Where are Weeks 4 thru 16 you may ask? Somewhere in my mind. I'm working on it.
